As a preschool teacher, I'm interested in profiling and interviewing caregivers within the early childhood education (ECE) community. ECE teachers provide care during the timeframe that research shows is most critical for a child’s developing brain. Why have ECE teachers chosen this field, what are its challenges, and what changes would they like to see? This field is critical, yet largely under-recognized, and under-funded, nationally. This series addresses these issues to begin conversations to move forward the goals of our local ECE community to better support students and educators. Each seated portrait of a teacher pairs with their edited interview.
